After years of international travel and being immersed in foreign cultures, I not only broadened my academic horizons but also enriched my personal growth in profound ways. After studying abroad five times, learning six languages, and gaining professional experience in international education, I was compelled to make a meaningful impact on the future of education. My aim is to create a pathway that facilitates educational travel for open-minded, curious, ambitious students worldwide. While doing so, LiveTwoTravel seeks to create an inclusive environment where individuals can explore diverse cultures, learn foreign languages, and acquire intercultural perspectives while becoming global citizens.
"As a world traveler, polyglot, and an Egyptian at heart, I've always been inspired to find ways to be a conduit between cultures. My journey as a global citizen started as a freshman in high school, where I learned fluent Spanish, and used it to interpret for non-English speaking students. I quickly saw the value in bilingualism as it gave me the capacity to bridge cultural understanding and to challenge stereotypes. My love for the Spanish language motivated me to pursue foreign languages in college, where I also got the chance to learn Portuguese. As a language student, it seemed logical that international travel needed to be a part of my academic journey, and it was. I pursued 4 study abroad programs where I spent a semester in India and Brazil, a winter in Cuba, and a summer in Mexico. After graduating college in 2020, while simultaneously on lockdown, I used my spare time to pursue a new language, Arabic. I studied Arabic for a few months, and then received the opportunity to travel to Egypt when international travel restrictions eased. After returning home after a month-long trip to Egypt, I knew that Egypt was the place for me. I fell in love with the culture, people, and everything else that the world tried to warn me from. Later that year, I returned to Egypt as a graduate student at the American University in Cairo where I obtained a masters degree in International Relations, while simultaneously learning fluent Egyptian Arabic. Upon completing my graduate studies, I briefly returned to the U.S. to work, as I brainstormed new ways to return to Egypt long-term. After considering different options, I reminisced on the time my family came to Egypt to visit me as I gave them a tour of the city. On a boat ride across the Nile river, my mother sat next to me, hugged me, and told me ‘Son, you’re such an amazing tour guide”. Then it hit me. With a love for Egypt, Arabic language, and being a conduit between cultures, it made sense to consolidate these skills to pursue a career where I could show people Egypt, the real Egypt."
